Key Club members perform community service both in the school and in the larger community. Projects are chosen, planned, and implemented by big Rapids High School students.
The BRHS Key Club raised more than $1,100 for the Mecosta County Relay for Life on September 21st. At the Relay, the Key Clubbers raised additional funds and generated a lot of smiles by hosting a dunk tank that saw community and school leaders being dumped into rigid waters! President Renae Lyons led an ambitious fund raising project that included car washes, selling bracelets, and bake sales. The American Cancer Society, sponsor of the event, has a slogan that fits our Key Clubbers well: “Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back”. Many Key Clubbers have family members they honored or remembered during the event. And, BRHS’s own Zack Fredricks, a Key Club member for three years, helped lead the survivors lap. Thanks to all for their support.
Upcoming events to be sponsored by the Key Club include: assisting the Ferris State University Circle K Club with their Haunted House at the Paris Fish Hatchery, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, and the State Farm Celebrate My Drive contest. The Celebrate My Drive Contest is a community event that could help BRHS win a grant of $25,000 or even $100,000.
