Hunter Safety Courses Available!

Over 10,300 young hunters have started their hunting experience at the Mecosta County Rod and Gun club. The Mecosta County Rod and Gun club has provided this service free of charge for over 44 years.

This program is a DNR approved Hunter Safety Certification course that is required of all young hunters.

Students in the Big Rapids school district are invited to attend. The course teaches students about hunter safety, ethics and good sportsmanship.  Additionally, students will have hands on experience shooting shotguns, rifles, bow and arrows, and black powder rifles.  Adults are encouraged to attend with their children.

Mecosta County Rod and Gun Club will sponsor two courses this year.

1st course
May 17 (5:30 - 9:00 pm)
May 19 (5:30 - 9:00 pm)
May 21 (8:00 - 2:00 pm)
*Students must attend all three sessions

2nd Course
July 19 (5:30 - 9:00 pm)
July 21 (5:30 - 9:00 pm)
July 23 (8:00 - 2:00 pm)
*Students must attend all three sessions 

It is recommended that students be at least 11 years old to attend! 

All classes will be held at the Mecosta County Rod and Gun Club - 10600 11 Mile Road, Mecosta, Michigan.

Registration for the classes will be May 17th at 5:00 pm and July 19th and 5:00 pm. Directions and further information can be found at the club website:
